Is there a Desktop Search iFilter available for LIT files?
If not, does Microsoft have plans to make one available?
Is there a public API for retrieving / extracting LIT metadata from
outside of MSReader? Or, is there an entry point into MSReader that
can be called from an external program to get metadata?

At present there is no iFilter interface for .LIT files. We will certainly
add this to our list of requested features for future development.
