Unable to activate using IE7 in Vista

I'm unable to activate MS Reader. I'm following the instructions for
Vista to run IE as administrator and still get IE closing down.

Have signed in, got to activation page, then click the Continue button
and 'Internet Explorer has stopped working' window appears, followed by
popup in notification tray 'Internet Explorer was closed to help protect
your computer. DEP has closed IE...'

Is there a way around this?

A bit late, but ..

I *did* manage to activate it, but it still can't read the ebooks I bought.
This is a Toshiba tablet-pc, with Vista Business, that I bought a couple of
weeks ago. I'm sad to say that when I tried calling MS to get help about
this, I get told that it's "unsupported". They could help, perhaps, for a
hefty fee.

So, does anyone *here* know why I cannot open bought ebooks, despite reader
(2.5.1) on Vista Business saying it needs to be registered since the
security program was updated in the ebook, or something to that effect? If I
can't solve it, what's the use of the tablet-pc? :(

The use of a tablet PC is for the tablet functionality

It's not about reading books, it's more about designing things.

So, I guess I'm a bit confused on why you'd say books were the point of a
tablet PC.

Actually, I got it so I can read material from wherever, without having to
print them. PDF reader is one thing, some way to read real books is another.
I also have a few touch screen applications that's very easy to demonstrate
using this thing, so yes I was exaggerating when I said "what's the use
then", but being able to read books - and I go through a lot of them - was
one of the reasons I bought this thing. There are other, smaller, things
that also should be able to show you ebooks, but I also wanted the other
functionality of this thing, plus the screen is very, very nice on this.

Have a nice weekend,
