The last few books/lit's I have bought will not open in reader (PC version).
Reader would just close/shut down when I tried opening them. Re-activated -
still no go. I uninstalled, downloaded and reinstalled reader, activated (as
admin per vista activation instructions). Site showed that activation was
successful, yet when I try to open the books I now get the Error message: "
The digital security software that protects this eBook has been udpated. You
must re-activate in order to open this title. "

I can still open older books just fine.

Also, just for kicks I went to the "Check for software updates" site....It
doesn't even see that reader is installed. I am directed to download the
Reader for PC file that I used for the new install in the first place!!

I have gone through the process several times now. Suggestions would be
appreciated.

Kavoth,

What operating system are you using for your PC? There are specific
instructions for installing activation to Windows Vista machines. If these
instruction aren't followed you may see the results that you mentioned
below. Please feel free to respond here or you can reply to me offline at

As stated in my original post - I am operating Vista - Vista Ultimate to be
precise. I have followed the Vista instructions for activation. Open IE as
administrator, activate, close... It always shows that activation was
successful and to now close elevated window. The activation files are in the
/DRM folder and show up correctly in the registry.

Again, this is only happening with the last few books I have purchased.
Prompted to re-activate, etc.

Older secure books open fine. Has the DRM changed on .lits? Does Reader need
to be updated to reflect change?

Also, I can no longer change my library folder location. I have always had
the folder on a second drive (because I have ALOT of books and need the
room). Now when I try to change the default folder location I get an access
denied error.

The whole thing is frustrating. I like the Reader format and would like to
continue using it. But - If I can no longer read the newer books....
