I have a large library of purchased .lit books that I can't open. I
have several computers with my MS Reader installed. My old laptop
finally died and I had to install the Reader software on another
laptop. Now MS says I have reached my limit and won't let me activate
my software. I have 1 laptop, one desktop and 1 PPC device. What can
I do to get my account working again so I can read the content I have
purchased?

Thank you very much for any help!

My reader email address is ***@hotmail.com

You can go here http://das.microsoft.com/activate/en-us/extraDefault.asp to
request additional quota. The grant process will take place within 24 hours
from the time that the grant was requested.

Hi Christine. Thank you for responding so quickly. I have already
placed the email request for additional activations 3 days ago

. My problem is two-fold: I have MS Reader installed on 3 devices.
My desktop, my laptop and my PDA. My PDA still works. My desktop
reports Reader is activated but it will no longer open my ebooks that
are secured.

My old laptop finally died. So I installed Reader on a newer laptop
but this is where I get the you have reached your quota of
activations. I have hundreds of ebooks I have purchased through
Fictionwise. I cannot get MS phone tech support to help me. Today,
the helpful gent on the phone actually suggested I delete all my
secures ebooks and reinstall the software!

I understand the need to protect the publisher's rights but this is
ridiculous. It should not be this hard to reactivate Reader since I
use the same Passport account. I have given more personal information
to Microsoft than the IRS has.

Any help I can get so I can read my purchased book on other my desktop
and laptop is appreciated.

Dennis

My database shows that the last qutoa request made for the hotmail address
you provided below was in July of 2006. Did you perhaps use another address
when you requested quota?

Thanks!

I just submitted an email request through the MS website for Reader
support 3 days ago. I also have a new ticket number from a phone call
to tech support 2 days ago. As I said, I need 2 activations I assume.
One for my laptop and another for my desktop, neither of my computers
can read secured content I have purchased.

Thank you,

Dennis

Did you submit the request via support or via the web form I pointed you to
earlier (http://das.microsoft.com/activate/en-us/extraDefault.asp). I'll be
honest with you if you submitted a request via support you are likely to be
waiting awhile as they are extremely busy people. If you submit via the
link above you should have your extra activation granted within 24 hours and
if not It allows me to be able to track your request manually so that I can
assure that the grant is completed.

NOTE: For all folks using the extra quota form: You will not always
receive an email confirming that your quota was granted. It is best just to
try activating after 24 hours.

Sincerely,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team

I did submit a request via the web a week ago. I also called support
and I finally got an email from Raj today. As of today I have not
been granted the activations I need from either request- web or phone.

I do appreciate your help.
